Obama Saluting the Flag?

Is it legal for Obama to render a salute, either to the flag or in response to a salute from a military person? I've seen pictures of him saluting.

I guess since he is commander-in-chief he can if he wants?

President Obama Should Salute the Flag
by: Michael

Whether or not you agree with his views, the President, no matter who holds the office, is Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces and should salute out of respect for our service.

Of course the commander in chief salutes, he's the highest ranking officer in the military...come on, some of you asking this served! You should know this.

Actually, Anon, by law, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Chairman serves as the principal military adviser to the President, the Secretary of Defense and the National Security Council.
