What is Going On Here?

I'm a Viet Nam veteran, having served on active duty almost the entire period of the war and being honorably retired from the service as of 1982. I am a college graduate, a career electronics engineer with an IQ of 140. I was never thrown out of the house by my parents or ever lacked for job opportunities in the years before or following my service.

The he-said-she-said tone of this article leaves me wondering what Val Kilmer ever actually said about my fellow vets and me. Claims, denials and counter-claims don't amount to anything.

Thank you for your service, and thank you for joining our discussion.

What is going on here is exactly what we're trying to find out. Chuck Klosterman in an Esquire interview attributes these quotes to Kilmer.

Kilmer responds with "I never said that."

So, we're trying to get a response from Esquire and/or Klosterman, to see what they have to say.

As we mentioned in an earlier comment, we all know that politicians running for office (or actors considering running for office) always tell the truth, right?
