Proud to Salute Our Flag

by US Army veteran

Having served in the US Army during the 1967-70 years of societal upheaval and protest against the war in Viet Nam, and the spread of that unrest to include the veterans who served voluntarily or by the call of the draft, it's refreshing to know that we have come full circle.

Those who have served this great country can freely and openly salute the symbol of the freedoms that those currently serving now fight for and those who have served in the past, with some having given the last full measure, also fought for.

I will salute her proudly.

Saluting the Flag
by: Paula Fay

I am proud to salute the flag as a veteran while out of uniform; although it feels a bit odd to salute out of uniform.

I am a Veteran of the US Navy Waves ('64-'65) and have recently joined an American Legion where they salute the flag at each meeting.

As I said, I felt a bit odd doing so out of uniform but I feel honoured to do so.
