Please remove my name from your recordss, I will not be a part of something that takes Christ out of Christmas.
Douglas Fahnlander Staples, MN
Seeing as how religion bothers you so much, you may want to...sparing us...your Politically Correct BS.
Doug,
Religion doesn't bother us; people whacking others over the head in the name of religion does.
Your comments were seriously out of line. The hate-filled portion was deleted as it violated our guidelines. Your comment is being published only because it illustrates a point about people making hasty assumptions about the motives of others, and wanting to control others while exercising no control over themselves.
Last week, a 2nd grade class posted a message of thanks to the troops for Veterans Day. They won't find comments like yours when they come here to find their post!
Suggesting violence against someone you disagree with puts you on the same level as those you complain about.
We think political correctness is one of the major problems confronting our country today. So not only are your remarks out of line, they're also wrong.
Lorie's comment was posted on November 15. Perhaps she was wishing our troops a Happy Thanksgiving AND a Merry Christmas?
Thanksgiving is the next upcoming holiday. Many of our troops and their families will be separated. They need to hear our thanks for their sacrifices, and our wishes for Happy Holidays - all of them.
Maybe she intended to include our Jewish friends, and wish them a Happy Hanukkah, which occurs between Thanksgiving and Christmas?
"Happy Holidays" is not always PC BS. Sometimes, it is simply an inclusive way of wishing you a happy holiday - whichever one you celebrate.
"Happy Holidays" was the greeting Lorie wanted to post for our troops. We appreciate her message, and her time to post it.
If our readers want to submit holiday messages wishing our troops "Happy Holidays," that's their choice. If you want to wish them a "Merry Christmas," we'll post that, too.
If Thanksgiving and Hanukkah had already passed, and Christmas were obviously the only holiday this greeting were intended to address, you might have a beef. But that's not the case. This is a place to post holiday messages for the troops, not to vent your rage about something else.
If you'd like to post a message wishing our troops a Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Ground Hog Day, or Happy Any-Other-Holiday, you're welcome to do so. This is a place to post "Holiday Messages" to the troops. We don't specify which holidays, nor restrict it to any certain time of year.
Posting your own holiday message to the troops would be more in keeping with the Christian spirit than your first post. Your vitriol has no place in a celebration of the birth of our Lord.
An apology would be appropriate.
We'll look forward to posting your Christmas message for the troops.
