Terrible Christmas without Sears Heroes at Home

I WAS SAD TO FIND OUT THAT I HAD MISSED THE SEARS HEROES AT HOME DEADLINE LAST YEAR IN JUST 2 MINUTES!
IT WAS THE WORST CHRISTMAS MY SONS EVER HAD! WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY GIFTS FOR THEM AND STILL NEED A LOT OF HELP TRYING TO FIX THE NEW HOUSE WE HAD MOVED INTO.
YOU SEE MY HUSBAND SPENT 17 YRS. IN THE MARINE CORPS AND WAS ALSO LET GO FROM HIS JOB HERE IN LONG ISLAND. WE STILL NEED TO HAVE THINGS FIXED REAL BAD HERE.
IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW MY HUSBAND DIDN'T SERVE IN VAIN ...WE HAVE NO HELP AT ALL!
WE JUST MAKE THE BEST OF WHAT WE HAVE AND PRAY A LOT THAT AN ANGEL WILL COME OUR WAY....
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA!
Arlene, thank you for your husband's service, and your support of him. We're sorry to hear about the tough time you're having. So many people are struggling.
Have you contacted local veterans groups where you are to see if there is any help available? Check with Salvation Army, VFW, etc. If you are members of a church, you might get some help there -- if not financial help, maybe a "pitch in and help" day to do some of the repairs at your home.
And it's a long shot, but have you thought about submitting a video to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition at ABC? They've been helping a lot of veterans' families.
We'll be announcing Sears Heroes at Home program for 2010 as soon as we get any information about it.
Please stay in touch and let us know how you're doing. We hope things work out for you.
